PURPOSE:To extract characters from a drawing where characters and patterns are mixed, by outputting picture data in accordance with the position of a character flag, which indicates the possibility of a character stroke, in an intensive grating point label code to eliminate a line pattern. CONSTITUTION:The first discriminating circuit 43 checks the grating point label code, which is outputted from a grating point label code table 42 in accordance with the address transmitted from the first address controlling part 41, to whether an indistinct flag 1 exists in the grating point label code held in the table 42 or not, that is, whether a character exists in this code or not. The second discriminating circuit 44 discriminates whether picture data exists or not and gives the indistinct flag and reports the presence or the absence of this flag to the first address controlling part 41. The second picture memory 49 holds picture data which is subjected to the elimination processing of line patterns by a line pattern eliminating circuit 48. |
