The electrochemical generator with a zinc plate anode has disposed within the electrolyte a large number of inert thin bodies of a density greater than that of the electrolyte. These create turbulence within the generator under the effect of the fluid circulation. The bodies are in particular small balls of glass or a high density polymer which are inert to the electrolyte and occupy a volume equal to 15-20% that of the electrolyte. The procedure is designed to reduce, both under charge and discharge, the thickness of the diffusion layer situated at the surface of the electrode. Used in an electrochemical generator with a fluid zinc anode. More uniform deposits of zinc are formed during the charging cycle with no passivation of the anode in discharge. |
