Open-shed jacquard pile fabric weaving loom - has each harness cord operated by only one figuring hook and separately actuated element

The harness operating mechanism is intended for an open shed-type Jacquard weaving loom for weaving patterned pile fabric (velvet, carpeting, etc., double-woven). It comprises lift cords of which one end is secured to a figuring hook of the Jacquard unit whilst its other end is fixed to an element with controlled movement. Each lift cord operates a harness cord via lift tackle rollers, the harness cord having one end secured at a fixed point whilst its other end is connected to the corresponding warp lift mail. In an alternative, the lift cord end is secured to a fixed point and the harness cord end to the element. The arrangement requires only one figuring hook per pile point rather than the two otherwise required thus reducing the space taken up by the Jacquard unit. It eliminates the time delay experienced the middle of each weaving cycle if a Jacquard unit with selection in mid-position is used, and avoids the consequent greater accelerations and decelerations at a given weaving speed.
