<p>An additive for rendering polystyrene antistatic is a polymer of propylene oxide and/or ethylene oxide. The polystyrene has been made self-extinguishing by addn. of organic halogen cpds. The amt. of antistatic additive is 0.5-6 wt. %. Flame proofers include chloroparaffins, decarbromodiphenyl oxide, and hexabromocyclodode-cane (I). The polystyrene is injection moulded or extruded, e.g. to electrical appts., such as fuse boxes. The polymer does not become discoloured during processing. The noninflammability and softening temp. are not affected.</p> |
