The rear-view mirror for a vehicle is attached to the upper end of a rod (7) turning about a vertical axis in a base (2) which attaches to the vehicle side. The base incorporates a flexible membrane (4) carrying a screw (3) at its centre (5) which when screwed into the base forms a vacuum between the membrane (4) and the vehicle bodywork to hold the base in the desired position. The base contains a channel (6) into which the rod (7) locates and is held by a screw cap (9). The base may also be secured by flexible straps.
