A support for shelves (1) which is intended, in particular, for use in constructions in shops and can be hooked with lateral cheeks (2) into vertical hooking-in rails (4), has a lower profiled rail (5) which continues over the entire length of the shelf (1) and is rigidly connected at its ends to the two cheeks (2) and forms a support surface for the shelf (1). An upper support rail (6) engages over the rear edge of the shelf (1) which projects freely forwards.
