The invention relates to a process for distributing the heating media to the heating flues of regenerative coke-oven batteries, in particular for very long operating times. According to the invention, the heating media are to be fed essentially only to the head heating flues and the remaining heating flues of a heating wall are to be flushed through only with very small amounts of air. The invention provides in particular a shut-off flap, which can also be constructed in several parts, in the regenerator floor channel beneath the first partition between two regenerator compartments.
