A brake-force regulator for a motor cycle hydraulic brake system in which a rear-wheel brake (9) and one front-wheel brake (8) are actuable by a pedal-operated master cylinder (7) and a further front-wheel brake (11) is actuable by a hand-operated master cylinder (10), and in which the pressure supplied to the rear-wheel brake (9) is increased in comparison with that supplied to the front-wheel brake (8) by the brake-force regulator but with the pressure generated by the hand-operated master cylinder (10) also controlling regulator operation. The regulator has a stepped piston (13) movable by pressure from master cylinder (7) so that a seal (18) abuts a collar (21) on a control piston (19) arranged within stepped piston (13). Thereafter the pressure at brake (9) is intensified, by virtue of effective area (27) of piston (13) being larger than effective area (16). Pressure from master cylinder (10) acts on area (25) of control piston (19). <IMAGE> |
