PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a reader by arraying plural light emitting diodes on both the sides of a slit in series. CONSTITUTION:An original 5 is put on the surface of an upper board 8 through a space. When all the light emitting diodes (LEDs) 10 arrayed in series light up, the light from the LEDs 10 is reflected on a part AB of the lower surface of the original and the reflected light is led into a light guiding element 14 through a slit 9a and a guiding hole 12a. The reflected light is led from the light guiding element 14 to a photoelectric converting element 7 and the part AB of the original is image-formed on the surfce of the photoelectric converting element 7. Thus, useless parts for light emittng are removed by arraying plural LEDs for light sources on both the sides of the slit in series, shortening the length of the direction of light emitting. |
