PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has superior dispersibility and surface smoothness, by adding a titanium coupling agent shown by a prescribed general formula and a vinyl chloride resin to a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording medium is obtained by forming on a base a magnetic layer which contains a titanium coupling agent expressed by a general formula (RO)4-Ti-(X-Y)2 (where R is a hydrocarbon group or -CH2-C(C2H5)- (CH2O-CH2-CH=CH2)2, X and Y are P and -(O-R1)2OH respectively, and R1 is an alkyl group) and a vinyl chloride resin such as vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer as a binder component. The titanium coupling agent is contained in the magnetic layer by adding a solution which uses a proper solvent during preparation of a magnetic paint or by treating the surface of magnetic powder with the titanium coupling agent. |
