A safety device for electrically operated apparatuses, especially for domestic appliances such as hand-held hair driers, heated cushions and electric blankets, sunray lamps (UV lamps), electrical tools for do-it-yourself enthusiasts and the like. In order to increase the electrical safety, particularly during use in damp rooms, a protective conductor is provided as a safety device, which is passed through the apparatus as a loop and is monitored for interruption, using electronic means.
