The invention relates to electrically insulated windings and a process for their manufacture, which is characterised in that the insulating tapes used are two or more insulating films which are essentially impermeable to liquid and are coated with a catalyst support medium which contains a suitable amount of a catalyst for curing the impregnating resin, the insulating films are wound successively around an electrical conductor, the conductor wound with insulating films is then impregnated with a heat-resistant impregnating resin and the impregnating resin is then cured. The electrically insulated windings obtainable according to this process have excellent electrical insulating properties and are advantageously suitable for use in rotating electrical machines, for example drive motors for vehicles, having a heat resistance of class F to H.
