PURPOSE:To check the connection of the leading end parts of dummy bars in a continuous casting machine which casts plural ingots simultaneously in one strand by making the arm operation when the dummy bars are connected possible with mechanical means. CONSTITUTION:A titled device wherein a connecting arm 7 connecting the leading ends of plural dummy bars 3, 3', a sliding rod 10 detecting the operation of the arm 7, and detecting rods 14 passed through the inside of the bar 3' are provided to a continuous casting machine which casts plural ingots simultaneously in one strand. A detection door 16 is provided to one end of said rods 14, and a photodetecting hole 18 is communicated with the position where it is opened and closed by the door 16. When the hole 18 is opened, this is detected with a light projector and detector, whereby the connection of the bars 3, 3' is announced to the operator. |
