A plug for the electrically sealed closure of a conical opening has a conical body consisting of an electrically insulating, elastic material, as well as a loading device by means of which the conical body can be held in the conical opening subject to a pressure load. The conical body of the plug has a cone angle which is somewhat smaller than the cone angle of the conical opening in the unloaded state and is equal to said cone angle in the axially loaded state, and, in addition to or instead of such a cone angle, it has a shape which leads to a constriction, in the sense of reducing the cone angle, when a tensile load is applied in the axial direction. <IMAGE>
