The centre of a shadow mask is considered to be the origin of a set of coordinates. Its major axis represents the X axis of a rectangular X,Y,Z coordinate, in which its minor axis is the Yaxis and its central axis is the Z-axis. The shaping of the effective area for electron beam transmission is such that, between the mask centre and the edges of the effective area, minimal values of radius of curvature of a second line of inter-section are difined by the effective area and by arbitrary planes, Y-Z parallel planes, defined along the X-axis, parallel to the Y, Z axes.
