摘要 PURPOSE:To use a visible and infrared LED as a light source for an optical fiber, by using the optical fiber as a means for simultaneously measuring and selecting both center accuracy of a light emission chip against the light emission luminance of an LED and the center of an external appearance shape, and distance accuracy of the light emission chip from the light emission surface. CONSTITUTION:One end part of a plastic optical fiber 40 is fixed to a photodetector 20 by a fixing jig 6, and is inputted to an optical power meter 30 by a signal line 5. To the other end part of the optical fiber 40, a fixing jig 7 provided with an opening part into which an LED 10 can be inserted is fixed. The opening part for inserting the LED 10 is precisely worked with accuracy of about + or -0.1mm. of the external appearance dimension accuracy of an LED to be used, and it is formed to the same state that the LED has been fixed to an optical connector, by inserting the LED 10. The LED selected by such a constitution is sufficiently within an error of about + or -0.2dB comparing with the case when it has been actually installed to the optical connector, and by a device which is capable of simultaneously measuring and selecting 10-20 pieces of LEDs, a selected non-defective one can be used as an element for an optical fiber, and on the other hand, a defective can be used for general display or other sensor.
