PURPOSE:To provide a convenient and economical generator unit by mounting propeller turbines flexible in number onto a generator drive shaft which is projected from a water-floatable body accommodating a generator therein. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of propeller turbines 10 are connected in series to a generator shaft 7 from a body 6 accommodating a generator 3, a governor 4 and a speed-up device 5, through a relay shaft 11. The shafts 7, 11 and the propeller turbines 10 are disengageably connected to each other by means of flexible shafts 12. Such a generator unit is laid, for example, in the middle section of a river so that the body 6 floats on water, but the arrayed propeller turbines 10 are submerged in water. The propeller turbines 10 may be positioned in fixed positions by a float 13 in the rear end part thereof. The propeller turbines 10 are rotated by water stream for rotating the generator 3 so that electrical power is fed from its output terminal 9 to an electrical wire 14 of loads such as, for example, lighting apparatus. When the power of the water stream is high, the number of the propeller turbines may be reduced since large torque is available to the generator shaft. On the contrary, when the power of the water stream is low, the number of the propeller turbines are increased. |
