Slide fasteners of separable type, i.e. with a pin(17) on one stringer(1b') & a pin-retainer(18) on the other(1a'), are made from a continuous length of interconnected stringers by feeding the length endwise intermittently by steps equal to the length of an individual fasteners, & then fusing the fastener teeth into blocks at both ends of an individual fastener length. The blocks are then slotted lengthwise as the individual length is crosscut from the continuous lengths. at one end the blocks(15) from the end stop, and at the other end are formed into pins(17,18), one of which has a retainer(19) fixed to it.
