PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of erroneous recognition, by providing a verifying circuit, which verifies the validity of the recognition result outputted from a recognizing device, to verify the validity of the output obtained by calculating the degree of resemblance between an input pattern and standard patterns in the recognizing device. CONSTITUTION:The degree of resemblance between an input pattern and standard patterns is calculated in a recognizing device 1, and a standard pattern coincident with the input pattern is decided and switches 12A-12N of selecting circuits 2A-2N are operated by category names 10A-10N of respective discrimination results, and respective discrimination results are supplied to verifying circuits 3A-3N in accordance with category names 10A-10N. It is verified in verifying circuits 3A-3N by the matching method or the like whether partial features corresponding to category names 10A-10N exist or not. Only patterns which pass the verification in verifying circuits 3A-3N are outputted, thus preventing the occurrence of erroneous recognition. |
