PURPOSE:To improve the effect of prevention of video recording failure such as erroneous recording or erroneous erasing of a cassette, by detecting the presence/absence of an erroneous erasion preventing chip immediately after the generation of a video recording instruction signal and returning the recording medium to a stop mode, if the result of detection shows the absence independently of the present operating mode. CONSTITUTION:When an operating command signal C from an operating command input circuit 9 enters a microcomputer 8, it discriminates whether or not the signal is a video recording command signal, and when this is the recording instruction signal, the presence/absence of an erroneous erasion prevention chip is discriminated with a detection signal A for the presence/absence of the erroneous erasion preventing chip. When the chip is existing, the magnetic tape run state is set to the video recording state as instructed by the signal C, and if no chip is presented, the present magnetic tape run state is descriminated. When the state is the reproduction state, the tape run is stopped after unloading, and if in other states, the tape run is immediately stooped. |
