PURPOSE:To effectively perform automatic tracking by deciding that sharp change of features of an object is a fault and driving a driving means at the status before the features of the object are suddenly changed. CONSTITUTION:An object feature extracting circuit 23 receives a picture from an image pickup device 1 and extracts various features of an object from a video signal in an object extracting gate set up by a processing area setting circuit 4. The output of the feature extracting circuit 23 is inputted to a feature index calculating circuit 24 and a feature index outputted from the circuit 24 is stored in a storage circuit 26 and supplied also to a fault detecting circuit 26. When the fault detecting circuit 26 detects a fault, an object position signal switching unit switches a driving signal for a mounting board to the one used before the generation of the fault according to an output from the fault detecting circuit 26. |
