PURPOSE:To measure the characteristics of a tape and a head, by winding and holding a test tape on a rotary cylinder with ring shaped groove on the outer circumference and rotating the rotary cylinder through the contact of a magnetic head for test on the tape. CONSTITUTION:A ring shaped groove 2 is formed on the outer circumference of a cylinder, a magnetic tape with a prescribed length is wound on the cylinder 1, and the both ends are taken inside of the cylinder 1 from a slit 3 and fixed with a holder 4. The position of recording, reproduction and erase heads 6, 7, and 8 is adjusted and they are contacted externally from a magnetic tape so that they are located at the center of broadwise direction of the groove 2. In this state, a motor 5 is rotated, the rotating speed of the cylinder 1 is kept to a specified value, and recording, reproduction and erase signals are applied to the heads 6, 7 and 8, allowing to measure the characteristics. |
