Tailgate for lorries or the like, having a platform which is vertically movable by means of a parallel guided lifting device and is swivellable about a horizontal axis and forms a closure flap and loading stage. The platform (1) has a transverse groove (7) which is open on the tread surface and in which, in the "roll over position for material for loading" at least one anti-roll securing strip (6) which can be folded about a swivel axis (13) provided in a groove edge region facing the platform swivel axis (5) is set and which in the "secured position for material for loading" in which the anti-roll securing strip (6) is swivelled up is cleared so as to be accessible from above approximately over the entire width of the channel cross section. The anti-roll securing strip (6) can be arranged in the position in which it is folded out of the platform profile for the position of use at a distance (loading arm length) from the platform swivel axis (5) which is the maximum admissible one in accordance with the device specifications, i.e. the distance from the nominal load, and thus at the same time a load limiting device can be formed. <IMAGE>
