In the case of this safety locking mechanism for roller blinds comprising horizontally running slats, it is a prerequisite that the roller shutter (6) is fastened, via a spring-band suspension means (8), on a winding shaft (9) and, as a result, is subjected, in its let-down state, to pressure loading in the direction of the front metal sheet (2) of the roller-blind casing (1). The aim is to provide a simply constructed, automatic safety locking mechanism which prevents unauthorised raising of the roller shutter (6), while making use of the contact-pressure forces, provided by the spring-band suspension means (8), in the direction of the front metal sheet (2) of the roller-blind casing. In order to achieve this, the invention provides that the safety locking mechanism is composed of two parts (sheet-like touch-and-close-type fastener comprising a strip (11) with protrusions and a strip of textile loop material (13)) which, in the case of a contact-pressure force acting perpendicularly to the plane of the roller shutter (6), are locked together unreleasably against raising of the roller shutter and, in the case of a separating force acting in the opposite direction, are released from one another. One of said parts is fastened, on the inside, on the front metal sheet (2) of the roller-blind casing (1) and the other part is fastened, opposite the first, on the uppermost slat (7) of the roller shutter (6). <IMAGE>
