Plaster board panel - with rounded or chamfered abutting edges eliminates cracks

Plaster slabs or plaster boards often suffer from cracks along the abutting joints because of lack of flexibility. It is suggested therefore to round off or chamfer the abutting edges of the slabs or boards in such a way that the broad wedge-shaped configuration results in enough deformability of the jointing material to eliminate cracks. Similar problems arise when plaster is applied subsequently to plaster board panels. This can be remedied by adding parallel taper notches to the smooth surface of the panels.
