The track recording car has an intermediate frame (1) on which the main sets of running gear (4) are mounted by means of adjustable suspensions (8), and on which intermediate frame (1) the car body (2) is mounted with the intermediate positioning of further suspensions (3). Coupled to each main set of running gear (4) is a set of measuring gear (9) on which the intermediate frame (1) is supported with the intermediate positioning of suspensions (15) which are also adjustable. In order to be able to vary the axle load acting on the rails (21) of the main sets of running gear (4), a control device is provided for the adjustable suspensions (8, 15). With this control device, the strength of the suspension (8) acting on a main set of running gear (4) can be increased or reduced and, at the same time, the strength of the suspension (15) acting on the measuring gear (9) assigned to this main set of running gear (4) can be reduced or increased, with accompanying changing of the specific axle loads in such a way that the distance between the wheel axles (5, 10) of the main sets of running gear (4) and the sets of measuring gear (9) and the intermediate frame (1) remains constant.
