PURPOSE:To charge the molten steel in a ladle into a tundish without manpower by providing a divergent taper to the inside hole of the long nozzle of the tundish and inserting a ladle nozzle provided with a convergent taper on the outside wall into said hole. CONSTITUTION:A slightly divergent and smooth taper is privided to the inside hole at the top end of a long nozzle 6 to be immersed vertically into the molten steel in a tundish 1. On the other hand, a convergent taper roughly equal to said taper is privided on the outside wall of the ladle nozzle 5 of a ladle 3, and this nozzle is inserted into the inside hole of said nozzle 6. The annular solidified shell formed on the inside wall surface of the long nozzle by the previous charging operation is used as a seat on which the leading end part of the nozzle 5 abuts. It is most preferable to set the relation in the juncture of both nozzles at l=30-200mm., d1<D1<(d1+10mm.), d2<D2<(d2+10mm.). It is also preferable to seal an inert gas into the clearance between the inside hole wall of the nozzle 6 and the outside wall of the nozzle 5. |
