Heat recuperator for domestic fireplace - has separate horizontal and vertical heat exchangers for air and water

The heat recuperator consists of a horizontal water jacket (2H) connected by tubes (7) to a vertical jacket (2V) which serve as the hearth and fireback respectively. Hot gases are drawn into a recess (4) at the back of the hearth and down smoke tubes (5) to pass below the water and over an air heater (34). The gases discharges behind the vertical jacket into the chimney. Air flows through the horizontal jacket and passes into a vertical duct to one side of the vertical water jacket (2V) before discharging through the outlet (8). Water enters the horizontal jacket and leaves through an upper connection in the vertical water jacket.
