The grinding unit is intended for fettling a large number of identical castings. It comprises a grinding disc (1) on a motor-driven shaft (2) carried in a frame (3,9) which is movable in the plane of the disc. The grinding depth is limited by adjustable work stops (14) to either side of the disc. These stops and a disc rectifier roller (21) are each carried by one end of a two-armed lever (16,22) pivoted to the frame. The other ends are pivoted to nuts (19,25) engaging opposite-pitch screw threads (20,26) on a screw spindle (8) rotatably carried (7) by the frame and extending at right angles to the shaft. PS.
