The metal molds for the continuous casting of wires, particularly copper or copper allow wires, comprise aligned molding cavities surrounded by graphite walls cooled by a cooling circuit. In order to replace only the worn out or damaged parts and to facilitate such replacement and also to provide a small mold volume, the mold is comprised of independent elements, particularly cooling elements (1) and support elements (2) which are alternatingly arranged laterally and optionally vertically. The support elements (2) enclosing the mold cavities (10), are movable with respect to the neighbouring cooling elements (1). Each support element (2) may be compressed individually and in the counterdirection of the casting against a stop surface (18'). The cooling elements (1) and the support elements (2) may be clamped transversally to the casting direction. |
