<p>A security card is made by digitising and storing, e.g. in a T.V. framestore, a graphic image characteristic of the card-holder, e.g. a photograph. Alphanumeric data relating to the holder and the nature of the card is also stored. The graphic image is facsimile-printed on the card, with ink or toner, and the alphanumeric data is printed ordinarily, e.g. with a daisy-wheel printer. The card is preferably preprinted with a security design. The fully-printed card is encapsulated between thermoplastic layers of transparent film, which bond firmly to the ink/toner of the printed graphic image.</p> |
