An annular gap (21) is situated between a casing (3) and a press spindle (2) which can be rotated in the said casing (3). An annular chamber (25) is produced adjacent to the annular gap (21) in an inside chamber (7) of the casing (3) by a chamber wall (26). The chamber wall (26) is attached either to the press spindle (2) or to the casing (3) and forms an annular sealing gap (31) together with the casing or the press spindle. The annular chamber (25) is connected via at least one opening (32; 37) in the press spindle or the casing to a drainage system (24; 36) for squeezed-out liquid. Various measures facilitate rinsing out and evacuation of the annular chamber. <IMAGE>
