The evaporation burner (1) has an annular flame holder (13) in the front combustion chamber region for generating a recirculation (14) of hot combustion gases. Arranged concentrically with the flame holder (13) with a radial spacing (11) is a cup-shaped rotor (6), the casing (9) of which tapers conically from the cup bottom (7) towards the cup edge (8). For fuel evaporation, it comes into heat exchange with hot combustion gases on the inner surface of the rotor casing (9). The flame holder is in this case designed as an annular-neck ejector (13) for sucking in a mixture of recirculating combustion gases and vaporous fuel from the cup-shaped rotor (6) into the flame core (15) by means of combustion air from an air duct (5) on the outside of the combustion chamber casing. The burner is suitable for large, medium-sized and small mass throughputs down to the order of size of 1 kg/h in the same manner.
