PURPOSE:To make engraving of a pattern fine and without restriction of configuration, when sandblasting a glass globe for lighting instruments, by using a masking material consisting of expansive cloth. CONSTITUTION:This sandblasting process for a polygonal globe of glass 3, consists of warp knitting of a chemical fiber material, e.g. in nylon or polyester, having high resistance against sandblasting. For this masking material is used a cloth such as Tricot, Russel, etc., in which a pattern 2 is put. As this pattern 2 shall be set in accordance with elongation and strength of the cloth, the hardness finish processing must be done and the pattern be determined in matching with the sort of pattern and the depth of engraving. The globe 3 is covered with this masking material 1 by utilization of expansion and contraction when it is woven or hot melted, and then the sand 6 is injected to the masking material from a nozzle 5 upon placing on the turn table 4. |
