Instead of the customary chain transmission, for example in a bicycle, from the pedals to the rear wheel, a double toothed wheel (1) which rotates around the bottom bracket bearing engages with a double-sided rear wheel rim crown gear (2) which is compression-moulded, for example from reinforced plastic. The space between the pedals (3), having a diameter of approximately 20 cm and a width of approximately 12 cm, is used to accommodate multiple speed-changing gears, freewheel and, if required, an auxiliary electromotive drive which can be coupled and activated. A special motor with axial air gap flux is suitable for this. Because of the requirement for cavities for the motor-transmission block and battery and for switches and instruments to be arranged on or in the handlebars, the use of reinforced plastic half shells for frame (4) and handlebars (5) is advantageous. In order to improve travelling comfort, the wheel forks are connected to the frame or handlebars by means of elastic and impact-damping elements (6, 7). The motor-transmission block according to the invention can be used alternatively in all-weather tricycles. <IMAGE>
