The present invention relates to a method for cleaning tooth prostheses of a retention product which, in addition to the required retention agent, contains an agent which prevents growth of bacteria and fungi. According to the invention, up to about 90 per cent by weight of sodium bicarbonate, calculated on the basis of the weight of the retention agent, is added to the retention product and, after use of the tooth prosthesis, the latter is brought, together with adhering retention product, into contact with an acid medium, preferably in the form of an aqueous solution. This prevents growth of bacteria and fungi during use of the tooth prosthesis in the mouth, and, after use, an effective and simple method is obtained for complete and gentle cleaning of the tooth prosthesis. |
