METHOD FOR GUIDING ROUTE IN NAVIGATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for guiding a route in a navigation system is provided to display the name of intersection by adding a predetermined character string to the searched name of intersection though there is not the name of intersection corresponding to an inductive point. CONSTITUTION: A user inputs information about a starting point and a destination into a control portion of a navigation system(210). A route is calculated by using the information(212). The control portion stores the route into a RAM(214). The control portion receives GPS information from various sensors such as a speed sensor and a gyro sensor, and a GPS receiver(216). The control portion searches a current position from an electronic map of a map data storage portion(218). The control portion searches an inductive point from the map data storage portion(220). The control portion searches the name of intersection corresponding to the searched inductive point(224). The control portion searches whether there is the name of intersection, or not(226). A character string such as "district" or "direction" is added to the name of intersection corresponding to the inductive point(232). The control portion displays the name of intersection on a display portion(234). The control portion displays a shape of the intersection on a display portion(236). The control portion determines whether a mobile body arrives at the destination, or not(238).
