<p>An interrogator unit (3) includes an oscillator (20) which generates a pulse train to a counter (29) that connects to a display (43). The pulse train is also coupled by means of coils (12,6) to a counter (71) contained in a portable responder unit (1) which is attached to a mobile object such as an animal. The responder unit counter (71) counts in synchronism with the interrogator counter (29) and generates a reset pulse when it has counted a preselected number of the pulses. This reset pulse is coupled by means of coils (7,13) to the unit (3). The preselected number corresponds to the identification number of the animal and the reset pulse reads this number out of the counter (29) to the display (43). <IMAGE></p> |
