Case 2701 IMPROVED MOTOR SWITCH This invention relates to an improved switch which is mounted on the end shield of a dynamoelectric machine within the radial periphery of the machine. The improved switch includes an actuating mechanism which is operable to disengage a starting circuit of the machine and engage a load simultaneously by acting against switch blade members mounted within the casing of the switch. The actuating mechanism includes first and second actuating members longitudinally extending radially of the machine and a U-shaped leaf spring longitudinally extending perpendicular to the first and second actuating members across the end shield. The present invention is an improvement over the prior art which provided a coiled spring extending radially of the machine. The present invention, by providing a leaf spring extending perpendicularly of the actuating members, reduces the special requirement of the spring mechanism by at least 50% over that of the prior art and as a result ensures that the switch does not protrude beyond the periphery of the motor. |
