PURPOSE:To form a thermal head better in the quality of printing with a flat generated heat temperature distribution of a heat generating resistor by dividing a resistor film formed like a belt into individual heat generating resistors with the irradiation of a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:An electrode material formed on the entire surface of an alumina substrate 4 are worked into patterns by photoetching to make a common electrode 1 and other electrodes 3. A continuous belt-shaped heat generating resistor 6 formed thereon is divided to match the pitch of the electrodes 3 by irradiating a laser beam (with a beam diameter of about 50mu) to form individual heat generating resistor 6a (where, the substrate 4 is carved to form a groove 7 if the energy of the laser beam is large.) Subsequently, a glass coat layer 5 is printed on the heat generating resistors 6a to make a thermal head. |
