The apparatus for SZ-stranding, consisting essentially of a stranding disc (10) and of a tubular guiding and storage body (15), is equipped with a drive consisting of two motors (20 and 30) which are each designed for only one direction. The two motors are coupled to the belt pulley of the stranding machine via a common drive belt, with a coupling and a free-wheel being interposed in each case. <IMAGE>
