The invention relates to an apparatus for the bundling and tying of elongate articles, especially tubes and rods, which are lifted out of a collecting trough, shaped to form parcels and, tied by tying means, transported further to a collecting point. In order to save means of transport and transport stations, whilst ensuring the least possible transport delay, the tube bundles are extracted from the collecting trough by means of a tong manipulator which, simultaneously with the transport function, by means of a truss former integrated into its gripper tongs, carries out the shaping of the tube bundles to form a solid parcel and carries this parcel in a stepped longitudinal movement past a tying machine which, after each step, moves into the tube bundle and ties it with a tying means, after which the tong manipulator deposits the finished tube parcel for transfer to a collecting device.
