The invention relates to a type-carrying wheel for a rotary printing unit which comprises a plurality of type rings (6) which are rotatable relative to one another and are seated adjacently on a cylindrical support body (3). On the outer circumferential surface, the type rings (6) have printing types (9), and they are provided on their inner circumferential surface with an inner toothing (10) with which a pinion (11) can be engaged, which is axially displaceable into the plane of the individual type rings (6) by means of an adjusting spindle (14) which is connected to it fixedly against rotation. With the aid of the pinion (11), the type rings (6) can be rotated relative to one another on the support body (3) in such a way that particular printing types (9) come into a predetermined adjustment position. When one type ring (6) is adjusted, in order to prevent the respectively adjacent type rings (6) moving with it, a latching element (16, 17) is mounted on the adjusting spindle (14) on each side of the pinion (11) so as to be rotatable relative to the adjusting spindle (14) and so as to be secured against axial displacement. The latching elements (16, 17) are engaged in each case in a positive-locking manner with those type rings (6) which are adjacent to the type ring (6) with whose inner toothing (10) the pinion (11) is engaged.
