In a microsoldering and welding apparatus, the electrode plates are arranged such that an intermediate space (interspace) (which allows circulation of the fluid in the container) remains between the container base and the electrode plates and between the electrode plates and the container cover. This results in more effective dissipation of heat losses, and the electrode plates can be at a relatively small distance from one another, so that the dimensions of the overall apparatus, including the required transformer, are also reduced. The complete container is preferably constructed of plastic so that lateral power supply leads to the electrode plates can be inserted through the container walls without any special insulation measures. If, in addition, the interior of the container is divided by separating walls into a plurality of chambers, this results in better utilisation of the rectifier diodes which are required for rectifying the electrolysis current. <IMAGE>
