PURPOSE:To prevent the longitudinal cracking and sectional deformation of an ingot by forming the corner parts and other parts except the corner parts of moving molds by using different metals thereby solidifying molten metal uniformly. CONSTITUTION:A titled mold wherein stainless steel blocks 15 are built into the notches provided on the inside surfaces in the corner parts of molds 7 or the corner parts are formed of cast iron blocks 12 or a melt-sprayed film 16 of ZrO2 stabilized with CaO is applied on the inside surfaces of the corner parts and the other parts consist of copper 7a. When molten metal is charged into said molds 7 and a cast ingot is drawn continuously, the cooling rate in the corner parts of the mold is the same as that in the other part, and the molten metal solidifies uniformly. In this way, the longitudinal cracking and sectional deformation of the ingot are prevented. |
