PURPOSE:To increase the performance of an electrode for a liquid-fuel cell by increasing the amount of a catalyst adhering to the surface layer of a porous plate by sending the solution of a compound of a catalyst metal, such as an aqueous chloroplatinic acid solution, existing in the innermost part of the fine holes of the porous plate toward the surface layer by the pressure of air remaining in the fine holes of the porous plate before the solution thus fed to the surface layer is condensed. CONSTITUTION:A porous carbon plate, after being immersed in an aqueous chloroplatinic acid, is immersed in an aqueous KOH solution so as to convert the aqueous chloroplatinic acid solution existing in the surface of the carbon plate into a water-insoluble platinic compound and to fix the platinic compound to the carbon plate. Next, the carbon plate is heated at 80 deg.C in the atmosphere so as to make the aqueous chloroplatinic solution existing in the innermost part of the fine holes of the carbon plate to be fed by pressure to the surface layer due to the pressure increase of air remaining in the fine holes of the carbon plate, and to condense the solution fed to the surface layer by evaporation. After that, the carbon plate is immersed in 100% hydrazine hydrate at 25 deg.C for 30min so as to reduce the insoluble platinic compound adhering to the carbon plate into platinum and to fix platinum to the carbon plate. |
