Conventional processes for manufacturing urea resin foams fail to cause uniform foaming, and thus the resulting foams are fragile and easily contract. This process comprises compounding a urea resin preferably modified with epsilon -caprolactam, polyhydric alcohol, or the like, with resorcinol and/or furfuryl alcohol, and expanding the resulting mixture. This process produces uniform expansion and provides urea resin foams having high strength, low contraction, and uniform cells. The resulting foams are useful as thermal insulating materials and wrapping materials. |
