SIDE PROTECTOR FOR TIRE, AND TIRE ASSEMBLY

PURPOSE:To protect the side of a tire from rocks etc. and enable the use of a side protector for a conventional wheel rim, by fitting an annular elastic together with the tire bead on the tire rim so that the elastic member is curved outside the side of the tire. CONSTITUTION:A side protector 10 is composed of a base 11, a protruded part 12 and a top 13. The base 11 is fitted together with the bead 4 of a tire on the rim flange 7. The top 13 is located in contact with the side of the tire. A reinforcing layer is provided in the protector 10 to keep it curved keep the contact pressure of the top 13 high. For that reason, pebbles or the like cannot invade along the contact part of the top 13. The side protector 10 can be applied to a conventional wheel rim.
