An apparatus for the production of photographic proofs has a papercutting device, a hole punch and a guide clamp which engages on a strip of photographic paper in order to convey the latter to a development apparatus. Since the exposure device of the apparatus is operated stepwise, while the development apparatus operates continuously, a container or a buffer section for the paper is provided between these two. A storage device for the guide clamps automatically supplies a guide clamp and aligns it so that it can be brought into engagement with a conveyed strip of paper in order to be transported, jointly with the latter, by means of a chain conveyor or the like. Since the exposure device is perpendicularly movable independently of the stationary development device, the conveying device is of extensible design in order to make allowance for differences in the length of the conveying path.
