PURPOSE:To synthesize a picture effectively at a high speed by extracting a specific part of one of two pictures processed by run-length coding, and then inserting it into a prescribed part of the other picture. CONSTITUTION:This invention relates to a picture synthesizer which synthesizes two main and subordinate picture into one picture. Picture data on a specific area (rectangular part indicated by coordinates X0,Y0,X1, and Y1) of the subordinate picture B' is extracted and then inserted into a specific area of the main picture A', thus synthesizing a new picture. The composite picture is fromed in a composite picture memory 8c, but picture data on the remaining area other than said specific area is read out of a main picture memory 8a stored with the main picture data, and that on the specific area is read out of a subordinate picture memory 8b stored with the subordinate picture data. Those data are switched and selected by data selectros 30 and 31 and then written in corresponding area of the composite picture memory 8c. |
